My So Called Life...: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
By Steph
Sunday morning we did brunch with my family (my mom and dad) at Salty's on the river. It is such a delicious brunch. They have everything: crab, shrimp, prime rib, fresh made to order omelettes, crapes, salads, oysters, salmon, eggs Benedict, hash browns, sausage, bacon, ALL YOU CAN DRINK MIMOSAS OR CHAMPAGNE, and a 5 foot chocolate fountain, plus a ton of other stuff that I am forgetting. It is such an AMAZING brunch with a beautiful view of the Columbia River. And, it's not too terribly expensive either, which is awesome. Check it out... you will LOVE it, I guarantee it!

The Williams Family: Our Anniversary
By The Williams Family
Michael and I went to Salty's this year for our anniversary. Michael's mom took Preston out to Sequim for the whole weekend, so Michael and I got to have a nice relaxing weekend together. We ate way too much as usual, but oh man, it was so worth it. At the end of our meal the waiter brought us an "on the house" piece of their signature white chocolate coconut cake. It was melt in your mouth heavenly. The waiter brought it to us, and by the time he came back with refills on our drinks, the plate was clean!! He probably thought we were a little weird, but it was sooooo good. Then we went and walked around a little on the water…

Portland: Salty's: A Holiday Wonderland in the North
YourStreet, Portland Oregon News
By NoPo Ness
Having lived in Portland for 11 years now (Wow, could it be?) I've heard the name Salty's tossed around a time or two when talking about seafood restaurants. Since it's way out on Marine Drive, I had never gotten around to checking it out until last Friday night. I saw the posting here on the site for the "March of the Nutcrackers" and being a bit of a nutcracker fan, I moseyed on over to their site to check out what this march was all about. After watching the cool video clip I was hooked (talk about good marketing!) That video clip got me all excited and in the holiday spirit.

Elliott's first holiday season
By Sarah
Yesterday I went to Salty's on the Columbia for Christmas brunch with two friends. It had to be very impressive to live up to its $35 price tag per person, and I must say it lived up to its expectations. The food was wonderful, the view breathtaking, and service friendly and attentive without being stuffy or overdone. Elliott was of course, practically a celebrity by the time we left. Servers that I didn't know and weren’t assigned to our table were talking about how cute Elliott is and waving good-bye. Elliott also got a picture with Santa Claus there- he wasn't smiling, but he also wasn't crying. It was a wonderful time.

Sparkling birthday night!
Oh The Places We'll Go

By Lyssa
Logan had made reservations at a restaurant called Salty's near the Columbia river. The drive was so pretty. I love Portland at night, specifically downtown from I-5 along the Willamette. The lights reflecting on the river are so pretty ... At Salty's we got to sit on the second floor room overlooking the river. They had icicle lights up which reflected on all the windows and combined with the lights from across the river and the reflections on the water. They weren't blinking but the overall atmosphere was sparkling. *sigh* I was so great. My face actually started to get sore because I was smiling so much. Logan had salmon and I had a lobster :) it was great. It was the perfect dinner. It was fabulous, beautiful, sparkling, delicious, and because I had a lobster I could rip, tear, and smash and it was all-right, even expected! I felt special, fancy, and comfortable. I loved it. Traveling Aprons
By Barbara Hahn, Park Hills, Missouri
On August 23, 2007, my husband and I set sail to Alaska on the Golden Princess out of the Port of Seattle. We had spent part of the previous day sightseeing and eating in Seattle. First to the food of course--We ate lunch at Salty's Seafood Grill on the Waterfront. We had a front row seat of Elliott Bay and the service was just as fabulous as the food. We started out with a three tier appetizer, Dungeness crab cakes, fried calamari, and coconut battered shrimp with Thai sweet-hot sauce. I favored one of the crab cakes and the coconut shrimp. Thai sweet-hot sauce was served in a 2-inch standing cucumber scooped out to hold the sauce. Read more >>

A limo will pick you up at your hotel in Seattle and bring you to the restaurant. After a great meal, you will be taken back to the hotel/no charge. She drove along the coast I guess you could say and I saw some really cool houses/views. Then we went and ate a restaurant called Salty's. We seem to have lucked into a string of last minute amazing weather before the fall moves in. Last Sunday a few of us went to brunch at Salty's - a restaurant right on the beach in West Seattle. Below you can see the view we had out the windows behind us. Not the best picture - but the view was incredible. It was a regular eating marathon, about three hours of eating/digesting/eating/digesting. They had the best seafood, omlets, pasta, pancakes, waffles, chocolate fondue, desserts, and the list goes on and on. It was definitely necessary to walk of our lunch, and a long stroll on the beach was just the cure. Wahoo for sunshine! If only it would last longer... Read more >>

Salty's Announces Recipe Contest Winner
By Kyla Myers, About-SeattleWa.com, Seattle, WA

Back in June, Salty's announced a recipe contest to celebrate 30 years of serving wild salmon in the Northwest. Participants were encouraged to submit their "totally original, wildly creative and tastiest recipe for cooking wild salmon". The winner and five friends/family members would be treated to a hands-on cooking class with a Salty's Chef, and would then dine on the goodies from the class. Mmm, sounds fabulous to me! This month Salty's announced the winners so I thought I'd share the winning recipe. As you all know, I'm a huge fan of Indian food so this recipe looks like a winner to me! The winning recipe was submitted by Tim Bottler of Portland, Oregon. Tim is apparently a regular Happy Hour attendee at Salty's Portland location. Read more >>

Be a Queen at Salty’s
Westseattleherald.com
By Emily Williamson
The Lunch Ladies
How would you like to feel for a queen (or king) for a day and not have to leave West Seattle? How about being treated like a Hollywood celebrity without breaking your budget? I have a secret. You can do it, and it is easy. Just go to lunch at Salty's…. We were welcomed immediately with pure West Seattle warmth. Even though Salty's it considered one of our finer restaurants, it has a refreshing, non-pretentious atmosphere. I felt right at home in my blue jeans as we passed by the partially open kitchen, the dessert tray (Miranda picked out hers right then) and made our way into the seating area. The view opened to a panorama of Elliot Bay and downtown Seattle. It was so beautiful, I actually gasped. We were seated by the windows (the view is good from every seat), when Miranda pointed to a Bald Eagle flying over the building…. Miranda and I were amazed at the prices and selection on the lunch menu. It was really affordable, and a wide selection. We started with two cups of soup. I had the crab and halibut chowder, and Miranda had the clam chowder. I was glad that Miranda didn't ask to try mine, I wanted it all. It was thick, with warm spices, and thick chunks of crabs. I savored every bite…. Today's subject with Miranda? Gifts. She talked about how people are born with multiple gifts and talents, like having majors and minors in college. She said the trick is to find our gifts, and that the clue to having a gift is that they are never selfish: they are always about serving the good of humanity. (Whoever made our meal has a gift with food!)

Salty's - What a view!
By Frantic Foodie
Seattle Post Intelligencer
I have heard the name Salty's so many times since I moved to Seattle. Finally I went to Salty's on Alki Beach for the first time. The dinner started off with a huge assortment of rolls including fresh savory scones. I actually filled up on the scones because they were so addictive. I ordered the Halibut with Beurre Blanc and Risotto with Corn and Asparagus as a side dish. The halibut was delightful and the risotto was deliciously creamy. The place was packed, the people were positive and the service was great. The dinner was one of those "I love Seattle" experiences, especially when I watched the sun come down right on the water. So romantic! Next time I have guests from out of town, I know where I am taking them. After I got home I was talking to a friend about the experience (I must add that this person is quite picky when it comes to food)

Me: I went to Salty's The food was really amazing. Him: Of course, that is why they always win so many awards (best Sunday brunch, best seafood and steakhouse in Seattle and Portland and the list goes on). Me: So what do you think it is about it? Him: They have great service, lots of staff and they use fresh ingredients. It all made sense! Read more >>

Stretching your dollar while dining out
KGW.COM Portland,OR
by Dave Northfield, KGW Staff
Here's another great deal for fine dining on a budget - happy hour. At Salty's they offer a smaller portion of their crab and shrimp mac and cheese for $5.99. The full portion is $24.95 at dinner. To go with discounted drinks, there's a cheeseburger and fries for $5.99 and portobello mushroom ravioli for $5 dollars. Also new at Salty's is the half price-half portion entrees which also appeal to those looking for value and a smaller portion. "Sometimes you're just not in the mood to eat a large meal. You want dessert, and you know if you order the big entree you can't make it there, " Linda Addy of Salty's told Newschannel-8.

Paddle Into the Sunset with Alki Kayak Tours
By info@toursaver.com (Gary Blakely)
You have to take the water taxi over to Alki Beach in West Seattle. Oh, you can drive over as well, but it's more fun to take the Elliott Bay Water Taxi. The water taxi operates seven days a week, between Pier 55 at the foot of Spring Street on the downtown Seattle waterfront and Seacrest dock in West Seattle. It takes about 12 minutes.
Give Greg a call at (206)953-0237. Tell him Scott sent you. TIP: Stop in for a wonderful lunch at Salty's. You can walk there from the boathouse. Kayak and lunch makes for a wonderful day in West Seattle! Alki Kayak Tours. Read more >>

Where Do You Happy Hour
Seattle Post Intelligencer Reader Blogs
Posted by Eastside Uptown Girl
For the wine enthusiast, here is an idea: it's not really happy hour, but it happens right after work around 6 PM. Sommilier David LaClaire has launched his new venture SEATTLE UNCORKED! The unpretentious wine club. This past week he hosted "Sexy Syrahs" at Salty's on Alki and it benefitted FareStart, a local charity.
My friend Eileen Mintz alerted me to this event. It was packed! There were a few hundred people tasting syrahs from all over the NW. Food is also provided and Saltys catered it. We had salmon, lamb, veggie sliders, and lots of desserts. All carefully paired to go with a syrah.
If you see an event on his calendar you are interested in I suggest you jump on it because his events sell out.
It's a great way to try a variety of fine wines, network, and have a bite to eat on your way home from work.
C'mon, get happy! Read more >>

This past weekend was easily the most gorgeous weather we've had here in the Pacific Northwest since last summer — nary a cloud in the sky, and unseasonably warm temperatures hovering around the 80-degree mark. Billy's Seattle / Tacoma Blog
From Billy Watson, Your Guide to Seattle/Tacoma
Salty's on Alki offers the best view and the best brunch in Seattle. Those two points are as close to universally accepted as it gets. The menu of the landmark Seattle restaurant isn't as "inventive" as some of the newer spots around town, but it also comes across as confident and unpretentious; making a meal there a nice experience for pretty much anyone. April is a great time to stop in at Salty's for two reasons: 1) It's halibut season & 2) Salty's is one of a dozen restaurants participating in Seasoned Seattle.

Following practice, the team went to the movie theater and saw "The Bank Job." After the movie, everyone headed down to the waterfront to a restaurant called Salty's. How would you like to be in a room with buffet tables filled with salads, salmon, crab, lobster puffs, beef mini burgers, scallop/prawn skewers, chicken dishes, every pastry and cake you could imagine, and more? You could have as much food as you want, and go back for more. And, a fountain that flows with chocolate? You dip various items of food under the fountain and the chocolate hardens. I would not want to have that in my home...danger! I had this opportunity the other night at Saltys on Alki. My friend Eileen Mintz of Mintz Media invited me to her wedding planning promotion .. 'Dream' hotel proposed for Alki
CB Anderson Architects have sketched out what a proposed "boutique hotel" south of Salty's on Alki might look like, says WSB. (Finally. The only lodging West Seattle has are sketchy motels.) Published in the Daily Journal Commerce, the plan would also include improvements for the restaurant, such as a new glassed-in deck where you'll gaze on the killer view of downtown Seattle. So far, it's still in the "dream" phase and no formal applications have been filed with the city yet. Read more at Read more >>

This weekend we did one of our favorite things! We went to Salty's for their brunch on Saturday. It's AMAZING!!! It's buffet style all you can eat of the most incredible food! And it's not all seafood, which I'm not the biggest seafood fan, so that works for me. There is everything from a tall chocolate fountain, waffles, hearty breakfast items, seafood (obviously), and DESSERTS!
