Subject: An Evening To Remember! |
 |
My daughters boyfriend Jimmy had his senior prom this last
Friday night (June 2nd). Several of his friends were to meet at
our home in order to catch their ride in a limo. Just before they
were to arrive Jimmy received a call from one of the girls stating
that her date had "stood her up." In between her tears
he managed to persuade her to still come and he would be happy
to escort her and my daughter (what a gentlemen). When she arrived
at our home she could hardly hold herself together, overcome with
sadness the tears wouldn't stop. Everyone was trying to comfort
and encourage her but her pain was too great.
They arrived at Salty's On Alki 45 minutes late (limo driver got
lost) where they were greeted by several more friends. By this
time the story was out and now even the restaurant Manager knew.
This is where the "Angels among us" comes in....
The Manager, witnessing the sadness not to mention how much of
a damper it was putting on the evening and how everyone was struggling
with how to cheer their friend up, she came over to Brittany and
said to her, "There are lots of nice young men around here
that I'm sure would be honored to escort you to your prom, how
about if we see what we can come up with."
She then returned with a young man by the name of Raymond who
said to Brittany that he was sorry for the situation she was in
but that if she would like he would be very honored to escort
her to her Senior Prom. Raymond is a Busboy for Salty's and a
Senior at West Seattle High. Brittany was so shocked and flattered
at the generosity she graciously accepted. Raymond said he lived
close by and would go home to put on his suit....
It gets better! The staff got together and took up a collection
so that Raymond would have money to spend on his date ... and
the manager also provided them with the Restaurant Limo so they
would have escorted transportation. Raymond went home to change
and returned with a rose which he presented to Brittany. They
went on to have a memorable evening.
I had the opportunity to meet Raymond the next morning at my home
where the kids returned to pick up the car. He is truly a gentleman,
humbly receiving our praises he complimented everyone else and
said how much he had enjoyed the evening.
Prom night should never be a sad one and thanks to the Manager
and her staff at Salty's not only did they make it a memorable
one for Brittany but for all the kids that night. Our hats are
off to you Salty's for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Your kindness spoke volumes to our kids! You truly are Angels!!
Sincerely,
Shawn Kimball
